If you run into problems installing a broadband modem, check the following: A Are your micro-filters installed and working? Micro-filters (aka line-splitters) are the devices that filter the data coming through a phoneline set-up for ADSL so that the broadband data ends up in your modem and telephone data ends up in your ear.
(If you fall into this trap, you’ll have to detach the modem, uninstall the software and start again.)
